What is happening with corporate innovation globally and why should I care?

Investment in Disruptive Innovation outside the corporation now exceeds the total spent by corporate R&D inside the company on pure scientific research. An entirely new approach needs to be undertaken to acquire the right leadership talent, expertise, and organization to address this sea-change in innovation.

30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION

FORMER SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF XEROX PARC, AND TECHNOLOGY EXECUTIVE AT MICROSOFT, APPLE, AND HP

Michael has had a thirty-year career working with Fortune Group companies as an operating executive in companies including HP, Apple, IBM Lexmark, Microsoft, and Xerox PARC. He founded Stanford’s Program on Disruptive Technology and Digital Cities in 2017. The mission of the program is to transform disruptive technology into new opportunities for growth for established companies. There are now 27 major corporations including Microsoft, Amazon, Bechtel, Blue Cross, and others engaged with the program.

Prior to joining Stanford, Mike was Senior Vice President of Global Business Operations for the Xerox PARC innovation center in Palo Alto, California. PARC invented technologies that were licensed to Apple, 3Com, and others to form the beginning of networking and PCs. As an operating executive, Mike has decades of operating experience managing global P&L's, sales, digital marketing, strategy, business development, and strategic alliances. Mike’s team launched the first software for the IBM PC, the first digital camera at Apple, and the first enterprise cloud services at Microsoft.

Today, he works with commercial clients on emerging technologies - big data, predictive analytics, cloud, mobile, and privacy. Mike’s passion is corporate transformation through effective leadership and practical approaches to innovation. He has worked with top Innovation and R&D executives from 70 companies including Airbus, BMW, Google, Merck, BP, and Booz Allen. Mike also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Stanford Engineering School and works exclusively with Leading Authorities to deliver keynotes to over 20 organizations and 4,000 executives each year.
